The sunsets over the Arrochar Alps are breathtaking and the sunrise down the Loch towards Rosneath can be spectacular if you rise early enough. Even in winter you can enjoys the views from your cosy retreat.
The cottage shares a secluded site of about half an acre with Inverallt. Parking is provided. The main road (A814) runs behind the property.
There is a half-hourly bus service to Helensburgh, which connects with the trains to Glasgow. In the opposite direction, the bus serves Garelochhead and Coulport. The service is less frequent in the evenings and on Sundays.
Travel Directions from the South, North and East
Take the M8 right through Glasgow, carry on over the Kingston Bridge and pass Glasgow Airport.
Beyond that, take the M898. It is signed Erskine Bridge and also Loch Lomond.
Coming off the bridge, take the A82 signed Crianlarich.
After a couple of miles, you come to a roundabout. Carry on and as you approach Dumbarton, take a left fork along the A814 signed for Helensburgh. Stay on the A814 – it passes the cottage.
You will go through Dumbarton, Cardross, Helensburgh and Rhu after which you will see the sign for Shandon.
Turn left at the sign for ‘Timbacraft Limited’ and immediately turn left again to drive along the shore. (You will have gone through 180o). Inverallt and Shandonbank Cottage are at the end of the road on the right. They are the only properties on the road.
